FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are the questions we hear most often. If yours isn't here just reach out - we're always happy to have a conversation.

getting started

Absolutely, and you wouldn't be alone. Many of our clients come to us with a feeling that something could be better, without being able to name exactly what. That's what our free discovery conversation is for. We'll talk through where you're at, what's on your mind, and what might help. You don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out.

Simply get in touch via email, our contact form, or LinkedIn. We’ll arrange a free, confidential 30-minute discovery conversation to understand your situation and explore whether EVIE is a good fit. From there, if you’d like to proceed, we’ll put together a tailored proposal with clear costs and timelines.

Yes — completely. The discovery conversation is our chance to get to know each other and figure out whether we’re the right fit. There’s no sales pitch and no expectation that you’ll commit to anything. If EVIE isn’t the right match for what you need, we’ll say so honestly, and where we can, we’ll point you in the right direction.

We work with organisations and individuals of all sizes — from grassroots community groups to national government departments. We believe that access to good thinking support shouldn’t depend on the size of your budget. If you’re unsure whether EVIE is affordable for your situation, just ask — we’re happy to have an honest conversation about what’s possible.

coaching

Coaching is a structured, confidential conversation process that helps you clarify your thinking, identify what’s getting in your way, and move forward with greater confidence and purpose. Unlike consulting, a coach doesn’t tell you what to do — they help you figure it out for yourself. Unlike mentoring, coaching isn’t about passing on the coach’s experience — it’s about drawing out your own insight and capability. EVIE’s coaching is led with curiosity, not judgement.

Every client is different. We suggest a minimum of three sessions to allow the coaching relationship to develop and for meaningful work to take place. Beyond that, the number and frequency of sessions depends on what you’re working on and how you prefer to work. Some clients work with us intensively over a few months; others prefer lighter, ongoing check-ins over a longer period. We’ll talk through what makes sense for you. You can see the coaching packages we offer on our coaching prices page, here.

Yes — completely. Everything shared in coaching sessions is strictly confidential. If your coaching is being funded by your employer, we will never share what you discuss in sessions with them without your explicit consent. The only exception, as with all professional coaching engagements, would be if there were a serious safety concern — and we would always discuss this with you first.

Yes. We offer coaching via video call, phone, or in person depending on your location and preference. Many of our clients find online coaching just as effective as in-person, with the added flexibility of being able to connect from anywhere. We’re based in regional South Australia but work with clients nationally and internationally.

research & evaluation

We specialise in evaluating programs that focus on social cohesion, inclusion, community wellbeing, migration, and humanitarian outcomes. This includes community development programs, settlement and integration services, advocacy initiatives, policy programs, and place-based projects. If you’re working to make communities safer, more inclusive, or more connected — we can help you measure and demonstrate that.

Yes, and this is actually one of the most common situations we work with. Many community organisations are doing excellent work but haven’t had the resources to build robust data systems. We can help you identify what evidence you already have, develop practical ways to capture impact going forward, and tell a compelling story even with limited quantitative data. Good evaluation isn’t always about big datasets.

Yes. We regularly support organisations to build the evidence they need for influencing funding or policy outcomes. This might involve designing an evaluation framework, gathering community feedback, analysing existing data, or helping you articulate your impact in a way that resonates with decision makers. We understand what government and philanthropic organisations are looking for — and how to help you demonstrate it.

training

Always. We don’t deliver off-the-shelf training programs. Every training engagement begins with a conversation about your team’s context, needs, and goals. We design programs that reflect your specific situation — whether that’s a half-day workshop on community engagement, a series on leadership and influence, or a longer capability-building program. The content, format, and delivery style are all shaped around you.

Both — and we’ll recommend what we think will work best for your team. In-person training is often more energising and builds stronger group connection, particularly for leadership and interpersonal topics. Online delivery offers flexibility and can work very well for smaller groups or geographically dispersed teams. We’re also experienced in hybrid delivery for teams that aren’t all in one location.

Costs vary depending on the service, scope, and duration of the engagement. Coaching is offered on an hourly basis with discounts for purchasing multiple sessions. Consulting and training are priced on a day rate basis, depending on if we're in the classroom / on site, or undertaking research. We’re committed to making our services accessible and are always willing to discuss what’s workable for your situation. Contact us for a clear, no-obligation quote.

Yes, and we take this work seriously. We have direct experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the organisations that represent them — including facilitating consultation processes for legislation, gathering community evidence to inform policy, and building community empowerment. We approach this work with deep respect, humility, and a commitment to self-determination. We always seek to understand community priorities and work in ways that are culturally safe and led by community. Depending on your project, we may suggest engaging an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and led consultancy, and this will be something we can discuss in the discovery meeting.
